Fee Schedule

Effective 7/2010

A check to cover the horse’s first month’s fees at the rate corresponding to the service desired must accompany the horse upon arrival.

Board: Full: $225/month ($10/day) Pasture: $175 ($7/day). (No Stallion space available)*

  • Full board includes a dedicated stall, feed (mineral salts, grain and hay), bi-monthly rotational de-worming, annual 5-way vaccination, stall cleaning, and turn-out (weather permitting).
  • Pasture board includes 24/7 turn out with access to pasture and a run in shelter with hay in the winter, bi-monthly rotational de-worming and, annual 5-way vaccination.  Pasture boarded horses that require grain in the winter to maintain condition will be increased to the price of full board for the duration of time that they require grain.
  • Use of the outdoor arena and barn facilities is included in board cost whether full or pasture.

Training: $525/month (includes full board)*

  • Each horse is an individual. Progress will vary by horse. Typically, a young horse will progress from completely untrained to rideable by an experienced rider in the first 30 days. Occasionally, a young horse may need more than 30 days to be ‘rideable’; however, this is the exception rather than the rule. “Problem” horses that have been confused by previous training may need more time to become confident with new skills and to ‘unlearn’ old behaviors. I use natural horsemanship methods to teach your horse what is expected of him/her. I do not ‘break’ horses. Mutual respect and trust is essential to the long term happiness of your horse. I encourage and expect you to be involved in the training of your horse. This involvement ensures your continued success after you bring your horse home. Basic lessons for you on your horse are included in the training cost.

Miscellaneous Fees:

Additional charges which may include, but are not limited to: Farrier’s fees, special supplements and medications, veterinary care, etc, will be billed at cost.* Current estimated costs include:

  • Farrier Fee (John Grider preferred): $40/trim $80/full set shoes and trim.
  • Vet Fee (Dr. John Clark preferred): $40 routine farm call plus services, $70 emergency farm call plus services.

Contracted Services:

Purchase Agent Services:

Are you looking for that perfect horse, but you don’t have the experience (or time) to search for it?  I can find that horse for you.  You tell me the details of what your ‘perfect’ hose is and let me do the initial hunting and culling. I will search for your horse based on the criteria you select, including such things as: Price, location, breed, bloodlines, color, age, sex, training, ultimate use, etc.  Then, you and I will visit the horses and you can select the one that touches your heart while I act as your ‘head’ to be sure you and the horse will be a good match. Contact me for rates.*

Seller Agent Services:

Do you have a horse that needs a new home, but you either do not have the time or energy to market it?  All the phone calls, emails and advertisements.  Scheduling showings, dealing with no-shows, tire kickers, and online scam artists can be overwhelming.  Let me market your horse for you and relieve that stress.  If you have a horse for sale I can come to your farm for an on site evaluation and give you an honest opinion on the marketability of the horse.  If you decide that you would like me to market your horse for you, I can do that from your location with your horse remaining at home, or you can send the horse to our barn where we will tune up the horse and get him/her ready to be a great partner for a new owner. We are not a show barn.  I specialize in family trail horses.  I will teach your horse to trust people (de-spooking) and learn to be a partner adding more value and marketability to the horse–and ultimately bringing you a better sale price!  Cost is based on a 20% commission on the selling price of the horse.  If I don’t get your horse sold, I don’t charge you a penny.  What do you have to lose except stress?*

*Full details and limitations are available on our contract.
